BRAINSTORMING LOGO
Throughout my exploration of ideas, I have come up with two
pages of quick sketches of ideas that I will develop further.
GREEK GOD – Zeus
SPORT – Javelin
LEAGUE – Australian Olympic Men’s Javelin Team.
I began brainstorming words and come up with a few concepts.
The first concept was derived from the words ‘pole’ and
‘sky’, where there is a javelin pointing towards the sky. The distinctive shape
of the javelin resembles Zues’s lightning bolt weapon. I focused on the long
narrow shape.
The second concept came from the words ‘sharp’ and
‘lightening’. I focused on Zues’s lightning bold as the main imagery and its
sharp dynamic edges.
The shape of the lightning bolt resembles an ‘S’ shape, this
is when the name of the team came to my mind. I started exploring words with ‘S’ in them, such as:
- Sky Strikers
- Sky Bolts
- The Strikers
- Air Struck
- Sharp Pointers
The third concept was created from the words ‘Throw’ and
‘Powerful’
A Masculine Javelin figure came to my mind. As you can see
there are some sketches of a man holding the javelin, and throwing it in the
air with power.
The second page of sketches are more refined, they are a
combination of all three initial concepts. The lightning bolt shape forms the
words ‘Sky Strikers’, it is on an angle and lines form the javelin shape. It’s
a dynamic design which will look good on a uniform and any merchandise.
The colours considered are popular in the sport and will
work well for this logo. Blue, Gold and white will be used.
The Blue represents the sky, which the javelin is thrown
into, it also represents Zeus as he was the ruler of the sky, and it is the
colour of the Greek national flag.
Gold was chosen as it resembles first place in the Olympics
and is also the colour of lightening.
I will further develop and refine this logo.
First of all, I like these design very much, because it looks simple and nice. As we can see the brain strom and sketch. Greek God-Zeus and Jacelin are her theme. We know Zeus is famous in the Greek God, he is the king of god, and his weapon is lightning bolt. So, she put Zues and his weapon together for her sport logo. That's smart design. In the next place, we can see the logo, a stronger man holding the lightning bolt and throwing it in the air with power, I thinks that means the player throwing the javelin. This logo has the double meaning, the one is Zeus throwing the bolt, the other is play throwing the javelin. Zuse is god, he symbolize strong and fast. This logo for Javelin sport is very good, but if she can change a type fonts, that will be perfect. Because the type fonts is hard to read, although i know she want make the fonts like the light bolt. Final, the colour also is nice, yellow is very suitable for lightning and Javelin. Blue for the man and text is good.

ReplyDeleteI think Zeus has a great obsession with lightning bolts and i think incorporating that with your design concepts is particularly important.
Javelin is a great choice for sport and it matches well with "Zeus" and his greek myth background and story. I prefer like the refined concepts, as the letter "S" in Strikers are the same look as a lightning bolt, as it really signifies a great design concept and its potential for a final design logo.
I prefer "The Strikers" over "Sky Bolts, as it sounds more of a team name, compared to the other option. Maybe you can incorporate the figure of Zeus holding the lightning bolt as the Javelin with the word Strickers somewhere in the same design, adding some elements of the two concepts together.
I really like your design, further development is obligable and the colours of yellow, white and blue can add character and familiarity to the "whole" of your design.
